Moko was born on July 2nd, 1997. In the fall of 1997, I was heading to the University of Georgia to start school and was thinking about getting a dog to join me. That's when I found Moko, a 6 week old puppy that would end up becoming a fantastic dog and one of the family. He was a puppy through and through, getting into eveything, and usually destroying it in the process. The first shoes I ever bought a women were shoes for Aki that Moko chewed up when she came to visit my place very early on.
He grew into a loyal, handsome young dog (and older-bro to our other dog Kuma). His chewing days ended and all of the "puppy" behaviors were replaced with the behaviors of a well-trained, confident, adult dog (at least most of the time). He welcomed Curren to our family in 2007 with a bit a detachment, but they have since become good pals and he lets her do pretty much whatever she wants to do to him.
He is now grey in the face, can't see very well, and no longer runs after his beloved tennis balls anymore. But, his spirited, loving, beautiful self is thankfully still with us. So today we will celebrate Moko's 14th birthday with bones and treats and lots of love and attention and be grateful that we have such a great dog.
